Vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya showcased their commitment to safeguarding the international border by apprehending a Bangladeshi national near Border Out Post (BOP) Kanai in the South West Khasi Hills district.

The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence, resulting in the arrest of Tonik Hajong, a 38-year-old resident of Netrakona district, Bangladesh, who was found in possession of 2,37,500 Taka in Bangladeshi currency, suspected to be intended for illegal cross-border activities.

In a separate operation on the same day, the 4th Battalion BSF intercepted a group of miscreants attempting to smuggle goods across the border. A special patrol team confronted 4-5 individuals who abandoned headloads containing cosmetic items worth approximately Rs 15 lakh and fled towards the jungle.

The apprehended individual, along with the seized currency, was handed over to the local police for further investigation, while the confiscated cosmetic items were turned over to the customs office for legal proceedings.
