Body of junior engineer found floating at Umiam river in Ri Bhoi

The body of a junior engineer in the Water Conservation, Shillong was recovered from Umroi Nongrah in Ri Bhoi district on Tuesday morning.

He was identified as Ron Cooper Massar (54), a resident of Umroi Jaiawpdeng, police said.

Massar was reportedly missing from his residence since 4 am of May 20, while he went for jogging.

However today his body was found floating at the Umiam river. The body was pulled out of the stream with the help of the villagers, they said.

According to police, it is suspected to be a case of drowning.

The cadaver has been shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for conducting PM examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.
