BJP welcomes Govt decision on appointment of new DGP

The state BJP on Saturday welcomed the appointment of Idashisha Nongrang as the new Director General of Police of Meghalaya.

The party claimed that the selection was strongly recommended by the party to the Chief Minister in recent days. 

In a statement, BJP chief spokesperson M Kharkrang said, “Meghalaya BJP takes this opportunity to thank the Chief Minister and the Govt. for making an astute choice, in line with the state party unit’s preference.”

While congratulating Nongrang on her elevation to the coveted post, Kharkrang said, “Meghalaya BJP prays that God gives her the strength and wisdom necessary to lead the Meghalaya Police Force during her tenure as DGP. The party recognizes that the lady officer is renowned for her honesty and has set the bar higher when it comes to efficient policing; her appointment augurs well for the state as a whole.”

“BJP, as a party that has always championed women and tribal causes, is immensely proud that Meghalaya has its first woman DGP and the party wishes her unparalleled success in carrying out her responsibilities,” he added.
