Shullai also informed that the governor while assuring the delegation has suggested them to pursue the issue with the central government.

With regards to the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Bill, 2020, Hek said that the governor has assured to look into the matter. “The governor informed us that he is studying the Bill as per provisions of the law,” he said.

On the other hand, Hek informed that the delegation has also sought the intervention of the governor into the issue related to the appointment of the new vice chancellor in the North Eastern Hill University.

“We have requested the governor to take up with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). We prefer that the Centre should appoint a qualified candidate from the state and if possible a female candidate as the new VC of NEHU,” he said.
