BJP leaves it to Govt to handle peace talks with HNLC: Kharkrang
BJP chief spokesperson and former IPS officer M Kharkrang on Friday said the party leaves it to the government in regards to ongoing peace talks with the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
Speaking to reporters, Kharkrang said, “If it can bring peace to the state, then why not.”
When asked, Kharkrang said, “We are not privy to all that privy to what the government is intending to do but because here even the courts are involved for that matter, so I really don’t know how the government will handle this and I think let us leave it to the government because we are not privy to that.”
He further refused to comment when asked if the government should consider providing amnesty to the outfit.
The HNLC leadership has been demanding for amnesty to take the peace process forward.
