Big drug haul: 1 kg of heroin worth Rs 5 crore seized by EJH police in Lad Rymbai

In a major haul, police of East Jaintia Hills District on Wednesday arrested one person with more than 1 kg of heroin worth over Rs 5 crore.

In an intelligence based night long operation, ANTF team of East Jaintia Hills under supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police Banraplang Jyrwa alongside staffs of Ladrymbai Outpost were able to detect big consignment of 100 soap boxes containing heroin weighing 1040 grams from Albert Lalro Piang of Mizoram in the wee hours today at the Indian Oil Petrol Pump opposite Friends Hotel and Restaurant, Lad Rymbai, district police chief Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.

One mobile phone and cash of Rs 2,550 was also seized from his possession.

Piang is a resident of Phunchawng, Aizawl.

The SP informed that a case has been registered under appropriate sections of NDPS Act and investigation is on to trace the forward and backward linkages.
