    In a crackdown against criminals involved in theft and burglary cases, East Garo Hills police arrested two thieves and recovered numbers of stolen properties from their possession.

    Police said on February 22 last at about 4:36 PM source information was received that one criminal identified Tengman T.Sangma (29 yrs) R/O. Asibra Tura, West Garo Hills who was earlier found involved in some burglary cases was seen loitering in a suspicious manner at Kusimkolgre area.

    Police said immediately one Officer who was on ground duty was informed and they rushed to the place and apprehended the person and took him to Williamnagar Police Station.

    But on reaching the Police Station compound the apprehended person attempted to flee and ran away from the PS. He was chased by the thana staffs and with the help of the local people the accused was apprehended again.

    During preliminary interrogation, he voluntarily admitted that he forcibly entered into one house at Medical Colony Williamnagar and stolen 3 LPG cylinders from three different houses and also on the same date at around 1:30 Pm he had stolen one LG TV and 2 Nos. of LPG cylinder from Kolmesalgre area.

    Thereafter, on his leading 5 Nos. of LPG cylinder , 1(one) LG TV 32 inches alongwith TV remote control had been recovered from the house of co-accused Robison S.Marak R/O.Upper Balsrigittim.

    Further, the apprehended person stated that he alongwith other co-accused(s) had committed numbers of burglary cases in different location of Williamnagar at different times.

    They used to steal and store the stolen items and used to supply the stolen items to Assam and other Districts of Meghalaya.

    Total recovery of stolen items included 25 numbers of Dakmanda, 07 numbers of Cylinder and 01 numbersof LG smart TV.
