Ardent’s major achievements include anti- farmer decision, diluting matrilineal system by taking father’s surname: Dhar

NPP national general secretary and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Tuesday said the introduction on the deduction of weight of agricultural produce and advocating on taking father’s surname have been some of the major achievements of the Voice of the People Party (VPP) president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit.

Addressing at the general election campaign at Ladthadlaboh, Jowai in West Jaintia Hills District, har said, “Ardent has claimed to have contributed a lot to the society,  yes he is true because one of his major achievements so far is the introduction of the system to deduct the weight of agricultural produce, which has largely affected the farmers of the region. The other achievement was the attempt to dilute the matrilineal society by advocating the need to take father’s surname.”

Further, Dhar also slams the VPP for accusing the MDA government of being corrupt.

“There is a limit in politics to speak,” he said.

He also expressed confidence that the NPP’s candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh will come out victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with the support of the people of Shillong parliamentary constituency
