In a major push to enhance workplace safety, the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has launched the ‘SafeLine’ initiative aimed at training thousands of linemen in electrical safety protocols. The campaign, launched in partnership with AMISP partner IntelliSmart Infrastructure, focuses on preventing electrical accidents and ensuring the well-being of on-field personnel.

The initiative was inaugurated by APDCL chairman Syedain Abbasi in the presence of IntelliSmart MD & CEO Anil Rawal and other dignitaries. The first phase of training began Thursday, involving around 150 linemen from seven sub-divisions: Jagiroad, Jhargaon, Charaibahi, Laharighat, Morigaon, Mazbat, and Kalaigaon.

“Safety is a non-negotiable priority for APDCL. We’re committed to regular, high-quality training to protect our frontline teams,” Abbasi said. Under his leadership, APDCL has emerged as one of India’s most advanced DISCOMs, with notable achievements in loss reduction, operational efficiency, and consumer-focused innovation.

Anil Rawal emphasized that safety is central to IntelliSmart’s mission. “The safety of linemen is pivotal to all we do. SafeLine reflects our belief that life is priceless, and safety must never be compromised,” he said.

Training sessions will continue on the 6th of every month through the rest of the year, conducted by trained safety professionals from IntelliSmart. These sessions aim to build a culture of safety among APDCL’s linemen.

Dadhiram Saikia, a lineman from the Jhargaon sub-division, praised the training. “It was very informative and practical. We’re glad the chairman is personally invested in our safety.”

IntelliSmart is also leading the rollout of smart meters across Assam, with over 9 lakh installed. The company remains committed to building a smarter, safer, and more sustainable energy ecosystem in the state.
