GUWAHATI, Feb 28: The Bhumi Pujan for Advantage Assam 2.0 was performed at the College of Veterinary Playground, Khanapara, Guwahati, on Tuesday. Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Borah led the ceremony for the highly anticipated investment summit, set to take place on February 25 and 26.

In addition to the Bhumi Pujan, Minister Borah laid the foundation for the “Lai Khuta”, symbolizing the summit’s prosperity and Assam’s continued rise as an investment and innovation hub.

The minister invoked divine blessings for the event’s success, reaffirming the state’s commitment to fostering economic growth.

The primary objective of Advantage Assam 2.0 is to attract domestic and global investors to the state. Key features of the summit include 16 sessions in total, divided into 8 sectoral and 8 thematic discussions, five partner countries: Bhutan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the European Union and participation from nearly 300 industry leaders worldwide.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the event on February 25, marking a significant milestone in Assam’s economic trajectory.

The Bhumi Puja ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, AIDC managing director Manvendra Pratap Singh, industries commissioner Oinam Saran Kumar Singh and senior officials from the Industries and Commerce Department.

Following the ceremony, Minister Bimal Borah took to X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit is poised to transform Assam into a premier investment destination, fostering a Viksit Asom that thrives on innovation and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to position Assam among the top five investment-friendly states in India.”

“At the Bhumi Pujan ceremony, I paid my obeisance to Maa Kamakhya and the Gurujona, seeking blessings for the success and prosperity of the summit and Assam’s journey towards becoming a leading investment and innovation hub,” he added.
