Absence of doctor in Mawliehpoh Village lamented
SHILLONG: Mawliehpoh village secretary W Rani lamented over the absence of doctor in the village compelling them to go to Mawphlang CHC or Civil Hospital Shillong even for minor ailments.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of the health camp conducted by the Department of Allied Health Sciences of Martin Luther Christian University in the village falling under Nongspung Syiemship, East Khasi Hills.
Rani expressed his gratitude to the University for taking this initiative that is a boon to the locals of the town especially the underprivileged who at times cannot even afford basic healthcare. They all expressed that a regular doctor is what they really need as a town.
During the camp, more than 100 locals, including infants, turned up for anthropometric measurements like their height, weight and BMI taken. The chest, head and MUA circumference of the infants were measured to determine their nourishment. Besides these, the vital signs like pulse rates, BP and respiratory rates were also evaluated.
Experts from Bansara Eye Care also provided a free eye check up to everyone.
Doctors were made available throughout the day for a free consultation and free medicines were also given to the ones who needed them. The attendees were also given dietary consultation.
