    The state on Wednesday recorded 7 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,125 in the state.

    According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from East Jaintia Hills district, South West Khasi Hills district and South West Garo Hills district.

    Dr War said the state has also detected 521 new COVID-19 cases.

    These include 238 in East Khasi Hills, 80 West Khasi Hills, 79 West Garo Hills, 24 West Jaintia Hills, 19 Ri Bhoi, 4 East Jaintia Hills, 9 South Garo Hills, 6 South West Garo Hills, 10 North Garo Hills and 8 East Garo Hills.

    Dr War also informed that 572 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    Of these, 112 West Garo Hills, 121 East Khasi Hills, 78 Ri Bhoi, 51 South West Khasi Hills, 46 West Khasi Hills, 91 West Jaintia Hills, 16 North Garo Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills, 8 South Garo Hills, 42 East Jaintia Hills and 4 East Garo Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 67,016 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,516 are active cases, 60,375 recovered and 1,125 deaths.

    With 2,132 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 783 cases and West Khasi Hills with 758.

    There are 563 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 553 Ri Bhoi, 294 South West Khasi Hills, 129 East Jaintia Hills, 87 North Garo Hills, 86 East Garo Hills, 70 South Garo Hills and 61 South West Garo Hills.
