2 killed, 5 hurts in road mishap
SHILLONG: In tragic accident two people including a patient lost their lives while five others are seriously injured when an ambulance heading towards Guwahati dashed the rear end of a stationary truck in the early hours today at Shangbangla, Ri Bhoi District.
According to police sources, the incident happened at around 4am on Tuesday morning when the Ambulance bearing registration number AS 11 AC 9999 was on its way to Guwahati for shifting a patient from Silchar on reaching Shangbangla under Nongpoh PS rammed the rear end of the truck bearing registration number ML-05-F-3279, which was parked on the National Highway.
Sources informed that Gautam Roy (43), from Cachar District, Assam died on the spot while Prahalad Das Vaishnab (patient) was declared brought dead at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
The others occupants of the ambulance who are seriously injured are Saley Ahmad Barbhaiya (driver), Anamika Vaishnab (32), Subir Bhawmik, (22), Manoj Nath and Sanjay Malakar (20) all the injured persons are from Cachar District.
Police personnel from Nongpoh Police Station on receipt of information rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for immediate treatment.
