    The state on Thursday recorded 14 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 988 in the state.

    According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 11 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from West Khasi Hills district, South West Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.

    He said the state also detected 513 new cases. These include 184 in East Khasi Hills, 105 West Garo Hills, 70 Ri Bhoi, 35 West Jaintia Hills, 27 West Khasi Hills, 15 South West Garo Hills, 25 North Garo Hills, 12 East Garo Hills, 6 South Garo Hills and 6 East Jaintia Hills.

    Dr War also informed that 307 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    Of these, 107 are from East Khasi Hills, 23 West Garo Hills, 59 Ri Bhoi, 59 West Jaintia Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 10 West Khasi Hills, 13 South West Garo Hills, 3 South Garo Hills, 11 South West Khasi Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills and 12 East Garo Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 59,346 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,413 are active cases, 53,945 recovered and 988 deaths.

    With 1,361 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 1,087 cases and Ri Bhoi with 598 cases.

    There are 353 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 246 South West Khasi Hills, 163 North Garo Hills, 194 West Khasi Hills, 133 East Garo Hills, 105 South West Garo Hills, 105 South Garo Hills and 68 East Jaintia Hills.
