    In a hit and run incident, one youth lost his life after his motorcycle was allegedly dashed by a speedy Meghalaya Police vehicle accompanying a VIP convoy proceeding towards the much hyped Cherry Blossom Festival on Friday’s evening.

    The incident occurred in the Shillong By-Pass Road near ICAR’s area, Umiam in Ri Bhoi District about 10 kilometres away from the venue of Cherry Blossom Festival in Bhoirymbong.

    The youth was identified as Hudderfield Rymbui originally from Nongtalang, West Jaintia Hills District and he temporarily stayed in Nongrah, Shillong, East Khasi Hills District.

    Hudderfield rode his Motorcycle bearing registration number ML05 AD 0566 and was accompanied by his female friend as pillion rider and they were actually proceeding towards the Cherry Blossom Festival.

    However, Hudderfield’s motorcycle was allegedly dashed by a Meghalaya Police vehicle of Mahindra Thar made on reaching the ICAR area.

    Eyewitnesses alleged that the Meghalaya Police vehicle intentionally dashed toward the motorcycle rode by the deceased.

    Hudderfield was rushed by Good Samaritans to nearby Holy Cross Health Centre, Umbir but was declared brought death by the attending doctor.

    Eyewitnesses alleged there was no ambulance available due to heavy traffic and there is poor traffic management on the part of the Meghalaya Police department.
