As part of the annual outreach programme of the YMCA Shillong, the Board of Directors accompanied by their families led by the president Most Revd Dr Purely Lyngdoh visited the ‘Ki Mawlynnai ka Jingim Children’s Home‘ at Puriang, East Khasi Hills recently.

Started in 2016 by Nisailent Kharlukhi and her family, the Orphanage housed 26 children boys and girls in the age group of 6 to 16 years.

Speaking on the occasion the president Most Revd P. Lyngdoh said that the children can be considered as fortunate because against the odds there are people with a vision and a mission to care for the ‘not so privileged’ kids in society. He thanked the caretakers of the Home for their dedicated and selfless service towards mankind. He called upon the children to pay back not in materialistic things but in love and respect when they move away in life in being independent and responsible citizens of the society.

He reminded the audience of the Parable of the Talents which is one of the parables of Jesus to see the gratefulness and the desire of the heart of the servants by the master. He called for peace, love and tolerance in the season approaching Christmas.

Others who spoke included N. Kharlukhi, J.R. Myrboh and others. The YMCA Shillong distributed food materials, sports materials and clothes to the children. The children presented a melodious song entitled ‘ Ngi Bunkam’ translated as ‘We are busy’. The YMCA Shillong will organize the Online Christmas Carol Service on December 13, which will be telecast in local cable channel and youtube.
