    World Water day was observed today by the office of the Executive Engineer (PHE) Rural Water Supply, Jowai in the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong, Jowai. The theme for this year is ‘Valuing Water”. Additional Deputy Commissioner PK Boro was the Chief Guest.

    Additional Deputy Commissioner L Kynjing, Additional Deputy Commissioner DD Syngai, EAC YR Mawlong and EAC M A Challam were also present.

    The program started with a Rally carrying a message to save water.

    Speaking on the occasion PK Boro reminded the audience of the growing scarcity of clean potable water and the negligence towards keeping our water bodies clean.

    Smt. R Kynjing Member Secretary DWSM in her keynote address highlighted the importance of the day. She said the day is being observed globally to create awareness on the need to conserve water as we need it for our survival.

    Damang Wann, IEC Coordinator gave a presentation on the achievement of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the District.

    An Exhibition was also displayed on the theme’ Save Every Drop Counts’ and later prizes were distributed to the winners.

    Participants also witnessed the launching of Jal Shakti Abhiyan -II ‘catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls’ launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi.

    Earlier, Beautify Suchiang, Coordinator for Capacity Building delivered the welcome address.
