    Together with the rest of the world, “World Blood Donors Day” was observed in Jowai today on the Theme ‘A Drop of Blood can Save a Life.’ Pledge led by Additional Deputy Commissioner DD Syngai along with MA Challam, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Jowai,  Dr. P. Shylla, Incharge Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Centre and the staff of DC office was taken.

    The Pledge taking ceremony was held in the Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Jowai.

    In Commemoration to the World Blood Donors Day, an awareness cum Blood Donation camp was organized by Khynroo Khyllood Committee, Kur Sookpoh Khad-Ar  Wyrnai, Jowai in collaboration with  Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Centre, Jowai in the conference room of the Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Center.

    Welcoming all, Dr. Rita Pohrmen, Medical Superintendent District Civil Hospital Ialong, thanked the organisers and the Voluntary Blood Donors for their voluntary support and selfless contribution to humanity. Informing that the day is observed to express gratitude to all donors for saving life, Dr. Pohrmen stress on the need for more regular blood donation to secure the availability of blood in the center.

    Speaking on the importance of blood, Dr. P. Shylla, Incharge Jowai Civil Hospital Blood Centre, emphasizes that Blood is one of the most significant contributions a person can make to society. She informed that the blood  given will help those patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic treatment and traumatic injuries. Educating about Blood donation Dr. Shylla invited every healthy person not suffering from any disease who has reached 18 -60 years of age, having a minimum weight of 45 Kg above and having hemoglobin level 12.5 minimum to donate their blood. Informing that a male donor can donate after 3months from the last donation of blood and in a year he can donate 4 times and for a female donor can donate after 4 months from the last donation of blood and in a year she can donate three times. She added that donating blood will not only save a Life but also revitalize the body of the donor after donating blood, fresh blood is produced and it will keep the body refreshed and healthy.

    The other Speaker Lamwan Paswet , Ex-Secretary Khynroo Khyllood Committee, Kur Sookpoh Khad-Ar  Wyrnai, R Syngkon, General Secretary, Kynroo Khyllood Committee, Kur Sookpoh Khad-Ar  Wyrnai, Jowai and B. Shylla, President West Jaintia Adventure Cycling Association, Jowai also spoke on the importance of blood donation and urged for more volunteers to come forward to donate blood and save those lives that depend on blood transfusion. They also express that the unseen noble act and the contribution made by the donor will add joy and double the happiness of the receiver.
