JOWAI: The district administration of West Jaintia Hills District today humbled itself before the district administration of West Karbi Anglong District by immediately obeying the latter’s order of removing the Meghalaya Police personnel stationed at Psiar Village and shifted them to Sahsniang Village.

The Meghalaya Police were stationed at Psiar Village since June 13 for ensuring safety and security to the local Pnar people after the dismantling of the thatched structure for sheltering of Assam police for ensuring the smooth construction of the Border Police Outpost at Khatkasla Village. Due to opposition from Meghalaya, the Assam police dismantled the structure and left the place.

A large contingent of Assam police under the leadership of Executive Magistrate R Tulor and DSP P Gogoi came to Psiar village this morning and ordered the Meghalaya Police to pack their bedding and leave the place for they are stationed in an area belonging to Assam.

However, the Meghalaya Police personnel stationed waited for the arrival of Executive Magistrate F Basan and DSP Donkupar Moksha from West Jaintia Hills before taking any further action.

On arrival at the village, a meeting between the two magistrates and two DSP were held where both sides put forward their arguments but at the end the Executive Magistrate and the DSP from West Jaintia Hills had to humbled themselves before the magistrate and the DSP from West Karbi Anglong Hills and agreed to relocate the Meghalaya Police from Psiar to Sahsniang village.

“We are shocked at the sudden decision of removing the Meghalaya Police from our village. We will now start living from today in shadow of fear as our bad days will happen anytime soon,” said one of the local residents.
