In view of the counting of VOTES of the MLA Election 2023 on 2/3/2023 and the regular problems faced by the general public, the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills has directed all Street Vendors/ Hawkers to vacate the public footpath and main roads with effect from 02/03/2023.

The order stated that it is observed that the hawkers/street vendors are occupying the public footpath which has caused great inconvenience to the general public and pedestrians and also disrupts the free flow of traffic as pedestrians are deprived of using the foot path due to the illegal encroachment of hawkers/street vendors which in turn has led to frequent accidents due to heavy congestion of main roads inspite of several orders issued by this office from time to time.
