National Peoples’ Party (NPP) working president and cabinet minister Marcuise N Marak on Monday said selection of candidates for the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be based on ‘winnability factor’.
Speaking to media persons, Marak said that the party is gearing up its preparation for the GHADC polls.
“Some of our candidates are already in the field now,” he added.
Referring to the recent joining of two former legislators along with their supporters in East Garo Hills, Marak said, “That is the testimony of how we are starting (the preparation) now.”
Asked, he said definitely, the party is looking for new candidates.
“However, we will decide party tickets based on winnability factor,” Marak maintained.
The working president said that the party would try its best to win absolute majority in the forthcoming ADC polls.
“We will go to the people and based on our performance of the party, we will seek their support,” he stated.
