    The Deputy Commissioner, Excise, West Jaintia Hills has allowed wine shops and bonded warehouse in the district to sell liquor for six days in a week from 6th November, 2020 from 10 am to 8 pm from Monday to Saturday.  

    In an order issued on Friday, the Deputy Commissioner has instructed the wine shops and bonded warehouse to strictly comply with the guidelines and directives issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya with reference to COVID-19 situation.

    Further, the wine shops and customers are to strictly follow and maintain social distancing of at least 6 (six) feet and not to overcrowd in one shop. Only 5 persons are allowed at one time in one shop, to avoid overcrowding, staff of a particular wine shop are directed to guide the customers to the other nearby wine shops.

    The wine shops should work with bare minimum staff and all staff are to wear face masks compulsory. Hand sanitizers should also be provided to customers and also to staff while handling the bottle and cash. The wine shops are directed to provide full co – operation to the District Administration, Excise, Police etc.
