    The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Jaintia Hills District in a press release issued here informs the general public that in compliance to the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, all Wine shops and Bonded Warehouse in East Jaintia Hills District are hereby permitted to open with effect from 14th October, 2020 from 9.00 A.M to 7.00 P.M for 5 (five) days in a week from Monday to Friday, subject to strict compliance to the following guidelines.

    The guidelines in the order stated that all the Wine shops and Bonded warehouse are to open strictly between 9.00 A.M to 7.00 P.M on permitted days. The wine shops should be made personally responsible by deploying their staff to ensure maintaining of social distancing of at least 6(six) feet from each other and also ensure that not more than 5(five) persons are present at one time at the shop. All the directives issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya with reference to COVID-19 situation should be strictly followed.

    Furthermore, the wine shops should work with bare minimum staff and all the staff should compulsorily wear face masks and provide hand sanitizers to customers and staff, while handling the bottle and cash. They should also strictly avoid overcrowding; staff of a particular wine shop should direct the customers to the other nearby wine shops. All Wine shops are directed to provide full cooperation to the District Administration, Excise, Official and the Police.
