All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is making her first visit to Meghalaya where there is barely 40-50 days before announcement of Assembly Elections.

Banerjee landed at Umroi Airport in Ri Bhoi District on Monday where she was welcomed by Meghalaya party Leader and Leader of Opposition, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dr. Mukul Sangma and large numbers of supporters.

Mamata Banerjee was accompanied by AITC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who is visiting the state for the third time.

During her two-day visit, the AITC president will be attending a series of events accompanied by Meghalaya Trinamool Congress leaders.

On Tuesday, she will address a Party Workers’ Convention at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong with key TMC leaders of the state, representatives of all District and Block committees, members of Women, Youth and Student frontals, and over hundreds of party workers and members.

In the evening, Banerjee would be attending Pre-Christmas celebrations with children from different orphanages, Tribal Headmen from Khasi and Jaintia Hills, eminent members from the civil society and prominent influencers of Meghalaya based out of Shillong, at the Windermere Resort, Umpling, Shillong.

Mukul Sangma said, “We’re very happy that the AITC Chairperson is here on her first-time visit. All the foot soldiers from the party from nooks and corners of the state have got their chance to meet the Chairperson. They will have an opportunity to have an audience with her in the meeting.”
