    The District and Sessions Judge, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, on 3.04.2024 has convicted and sentenced Salbinal Nangbah and Belting Tyngkra of Mynkrem Village to rigorous imprisonment for life and fine ‘of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) each for an offence of culpable homicide amounting to murder U/S 302 IPC for the brutal murder of (L) Prodic Nangbah of Mynkrem Village in May 2014.

    However, during the process of trial, one of the accused, Chalbinal Nangbah, passed away on 6.04.2017.                

    The court has also ordered a compensation of Rs. 300,000 to the family of the deceased victim.

    According to Superintendent of Police West Jaintia Hills, an FIR was filed at Nartiang PIC on 06.05.2014 stating that Prodic Nangbah was brutally murdered by three culprits Namely Chalbinal Nangbah, Shri. Salbinal Nangbah and Belting Tyngkra.

    Accordingly a case was registered vide Jowai PS case No. 120(5)14 U/S 302/34 IPC, and investigated and Charged sheeted by SI C Lamare.
