    In compliance with the observations and directions of Hon’ble Assembly Committee on Environment, NGT, Meghalaya Building Bye Laws, Disaster Management Act, the Deputy Commissioner West Garo Hills District on Monday convened a meeting with Urban Planner, Tura Municipal Board (TMB), localities Development committee to chalk out a road map for keeping the streams around Tura free from solid and liquid waste, litter free roads, no unauthorized construction along the streams, regulations of meat markets.

    Besides giving due notice for demolition of unauthorized construction, effort will be made for verification of all the documents by the Urban planner and district Administration such as land Pattas issued by the District Council.

    All localities will conduct a cleaning drive in all areas down stream and also make people aware to ensure no littering and throwing of Garbage down stream.

    Urban affairs department to also prepare proposals under various Housing and slum rehabilitation and development plans for vulnerable residents wherever feasible.
