The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has issued an order Under Section 144 Cr. P.C  prohibiting washing of all types of vehicles along NH 44 Jowai bypass.

The order has been issued on the information received from the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Jowai Central Division, Jowai that washing of vehicles along the NH 44 Jowai bypass road has greatly cause severe damage to the shoulder of the roads and heavy and very deep scouring has taken place as a result of which deep drain like trenches are formed.

The water flowing through these trenches has started to erode and undermine the road formation which ultimately will lead to total collapse of the road formation.

This order come into force with immediate effect until further orders.
