    JOWAI: Jowai MLA and Chairman Meghalaya Commission on Resource Mobilization, Wailadmiki Shylla on May 24 convened a meeting with the officials from the Public Health Department (Electrical Division) to take stock of the implementation of Renovation of Jowai Water Supply Scheme, which has been a long pending water supply project of Jowai town.

    Executive Engineer, Jowai Division Paul Synnah amongst other officials and during the meeting informed that they had keen interest in the speedy implementation of pending projects which had started prior to his tenure as the MLA and that the Renovation of Jowai Water Supply Scheme was one of them.

    It was informed that the MePDCL is now ready to charge the power lines for energizing the pumping machines installed at the Pump House located at Sohmynting Village.

    Moreover it was informed that the work that is pending is for the Construction of Raw Water Pumping System, Laying of Raw Water Gravity Feeder Main, and other civil works which were assigned to M/s MECH MAT and that the said contracting company now is not showing any interest in the work despite repeated reminders and requests.

    It was therefore decided during the meeting that in Public Interest the Department should take immediate and necessary actions and ensure that the works is not halted and the pending works should be executed through other Agencies.

    Following the meeting the MLA had forwarded a letter to the Minister I/c PHE Department, Shri. Samlin Malniang seeking his intervention into the matter and ensure that the works on the project is completed at the earliest.
