Wailadmiki Shylla inspects progress of Mini Secretariat and Iawmusiang Market projects in Jowai

Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla on Friday inspected the ongoing construction of the Integrated Development Complex (Mini Secretariat) in Jowai to review the progress and push for timely completion.
Shylla told reporters that about 85% of the construction is complete, with the remaining work involving electrical and water supply connections, landscaping, and other final touches. He said the project is expected to be handed over by March 2026.
The Mini Secretariat comprises three blocks — West, East, and North. The West Block, built at a cost of Rs 20 crore, is almost complete. The East and North Blocks will be taken up in phases, with the re-estimated cost coming to over Rs 29 crore.
The MLA said he has followed up with the Chief Minister and raised the matter in the Assembly. The Chief Minister has assured that the necessary sanctions will be approved soon.
He added that once completed, the West Block will ease the congestion in the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Earlier in the day, Shylla also visited the Iawmusiang Market Complex, where construction work has resumed after being stalled for years. The project is being executed at a cost of Rs 25.6 crore under the MDA government.
The foundation stone was laid by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on December 13, 2024. Within four months of restarting, about 25% of the work has been completed.
Shylla said he is pleased with the progress and hopes the market will be completed on time. He added that the project is important not only for Jowai but for the entire Jaintia region.
