The Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Monday asked the State government to reconsider its decision to give the recently constituted Expert Committee to complete reviewing of the state’s job reservation policy within one year’s time.

In a letter to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, VPP general secretary Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon said the party is of the view that the time frame given to the expert committee which is one year is unexpected and requires a serious rethinking on the part of the State government.

“It is a considered opinion of the party that it is reasonable that the committee should be given six months only to complete their assigned task,” he said.

Syngkon also congratulated the CM for successfully honouring his promises to constitute the Expert Committee to review the policy.

“The party extends its best wishes to the committee to come up with the appropriate and acceptable recommendations that fulfil the principle of fairness and equity as far as the reservation between the Khasis and Garos is concerned,” he said.
