VKSA campaign reaches 7,278 farmers across Meghalaya on 4th Day

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across Meghalaya successfully conducted the fourth day of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), covering 63 villages across 13 blocks and engaging 7,278 farmers on 2nd June 2025.
The campaign aimed to strengthen agricultural knowledge and promote sustainable practices. Technical sessions covered a wide range of topics including improved crop production, organic and natural farming, integrated pest and disease management, soil health and water conservation, climate-resilient farming, and animal health care including vaccination, deworming, and hygiene in piggery.
Farmers were trained in modern techniques such as nano fertilizers, drone usage, vertical farming, mushroom cultivation, agroforestry, protected cultivation, and orchard management. Sessions also focused on high-value crops, millet cultivation, Kharif crop techniques, composting, and Integrated Farming Systems (e.g., paddy–fish or pig–fish models).
Information on key schemes—PM-KISAN, KCC, NFSM, PKVY, PMKVY, MOVCD, MIDH, SMAM, PRIME, and various State missions—was shared to help farmers access government support. Quality seeds of rice, millets, and vegetables, along with climate-resilient rice varieties, were distributed for the Kharif season.
Extension literature on buckwheat, millets, turmeric, livestock care, and good agricultural practices was also provided.
By bridging scientific advancements with grassroots practices, the VKSA campaign is fostering a more informed, resilient, and empowered farming community across Meghalaya.
