    In view of the General Assembly Elections, Garod L.S.N Dykes, IAS, District Magistrate, West Khasi Hills District has imposed section 144 of the Cr.P.C, 1973 in the entire district.

    The order prohibit carrying Cash above Rs. 50,000/- or gold or silver without valid documents.

    The order further ban wall writings, pasting of poster/paper in any form or erecting and displaying of cut-outs, hoardings and banners on any public property causing disfigurement/defacement of such buildings/properties, without prior permission from appropriate authorities.

    Violation of the Model Code of Conduct by all political parties, contesting candidates Election Agents.

    If anybody violates the above orders, he/she shall be prosecuted under section 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 and under specific Acts governing the above mentioned provisions.

    However, anyone aggrieved by the order may approach the competent authority for modification/waiver/alteration/rescission of the order.
