Vehicle services to be blocked without valid PUCC, says STA Secretary

The Secretary of the State Transport Authority (STA), Meghalaya, has issued a public notice informing all vehicle owners that it is now mandatory to update a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) at the District Transport Office (DTO) where the vehicle is registered.
This directive has been issued as per Rule 115(7) of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, and follows recent instructions and system updates on the VAHAN portal.
According to the notice, it said: “If the PUCC is not updated, all services such as tax payment, permit renewal, printing of Registration Certificate etc., and other transactions will be automatically blocked in the system. No transaction or renewal of vehicle documents will be able to process until a valid PUCC is updated and visible online.”
The Secretary also stated that this rule applies to all vehicles, including those with permits issued by the State Transport Authority, Shillong. Vehicle owners must visit their respective DTOs with the original PUCC to complete the update and avoid disruption or inconvenience.
