    SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) which was established in July 2016 now became the full-fledged Commission with Justice T. Vaiphei, Retired Chief Justice of Tripura High Court and the Chairperson of Assam Human Rights Commission assuming charge on 7th February, 2020 as the Chairperson of the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) in presence of the Acting Chairperson Shri. P J P Hanaman, Smti. Baffyndalyne Giri, the Hon’ble Member (Judicial), the officials and staff of the Commission.

    Justice T. Vaiphei was born on 1st March, 1956. He graduated in 1976 and passed his LLB in 1979 from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He enrolled in the Bar Council of Assam in 1980 and in 1999 he was appointed as the Additional Advocate General of Mizoram. He was elevated as Additional Judge of Guwahati High Court in 2003. Justice T Vaiphei was appointed as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court on 21st September, 2016. After his retirement in 2018 he was appointed as the Chairperson of Assam Human Rights Commission.
