USTM and Seng Samla spark career ambitions with high-energy guidance drive in Umsning

Over 1,000 students from across Umsning and nearby areas gathered at Balawan College Hall in Ri Bhoi District for a high-impact Career Guidance and Counselling Program organized by the Seng Samla & Cultural Sports Club Syadrit in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM).
The event, centrally located for accessibility, aimed to empower school students with clear insights into academic pathways, skill-building opportunities, and scholarship options. It was more than just a guidance session — it was a rallying call to prepare youth for the future.
USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, the event’s special invitee, delivered an engaging address on navigating multiple career paths and the need for early, informed decisions. He emphasized USTM’s commitment to expanding these initiatives across rural and remote regions.
Addressing the event, Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, MLA of Umsning, delivered a powerful motivational speech urging students to pursue dreams fearlessly.
Dr. Ricky Andrew J Syngkon, Member of Parliament, shared strategic advice for youth at career crossroads.
Banrikus Nongstang, MDC of Khasi Hills, spoke on entrepreneurship, inspiring students to think beyond conventional careers.
Prof. Amit Choudhury tackled the big question, “What’s Next?”, guiding students on choosing higher education courses strategically.
Debasish Saha discussed the New Education Policy (NEP) and its role in reshaping institutions for modern needs.
Nurmahmud Ali led a session on Training & Placement, offering practical insights on aligning education with employability.
