Urban Affairs Minister, Hamletson Dohling on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the implementation of the additional water supply for greater Laban areas.

The project amounting to Rs 4.4 crore was sanctioned under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme as per recommendation of the South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai.

Addressing on the occasion, Dohling assured that the implementation of the water project will immediately start without any delay.

“We want this project to be completed at the earliest so that it will be a big blessing for the people,” he said.

He also lauded the efforts put in by the local MLA to bring developmental schemes in the constituency. “Shullai is one of the MLAs who always enquire about the various schemes and it is an advantage for him to be part and parcel of the government,” Dohling said.

He also expressed gratefulness to the contribution made by the traditional dorbar shnongs in the government’s fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “Your support and cooperation will to a great extent help us in containing the spread of the disease,” he said.

Earlier, Shullai informed that the implementation of the water supply project will address the problem related to the shortage of water supply in the area. He said the project will cover around 5,000 households.
