Unrecognized schools in Meghalaya directed to apply for recognition within 6 months

The Director of School Education & Literacy Banteilang J Kharshandi on Friday issued a public notice directing all unrecognized schools in the state to submit their applications for recognition under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
Kharshandi said schools operating without formal recognition must submit their applications in Form 1 to the respective District School Education Officers (DSEOs) within six months.
Schools must obtain formal recognition from the competent authority within the stipulated time frame to continue operations.
Failure to secure recognition within six months will result in the closure of the school, and it will not be permitted to operate thereafter, the director warned.
The notice also states that no new school will be allowed to open without obtaining prior recognition from the government.
School authorities are advised to approach their respective DSEOs at the earliest to initiate the recognition process.
