Unidentified man found dead on top of an electric post at Mawphlang

A body of an unidentified man was found dead on top of an electric post after being electrocuted on Saturday morning.

The shocking incident took place at Mawphlang village, just 25 kilometers from Shillong.

The body was first spotted by morning joggers, who immediately informed the village headman Moon Sunn, who in turn contacted the Mawngap police station and officials of the Mawphlang Sub Station.

Sunn informed that the police are still conducting an inquiry to identify the deceased man and the intention behind climbing to the top of the electric post.

He said the man is suspected to hail from other villages near Mawphlang.
