    SHILLONG: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has urged the state Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to settle the decades long border dispute with Assam.

    The UDP also asked the Chief Minister to re-examine and re-define the inter-state boundary between Meghalaya and Assam.

    UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh has urged the Chief Minister to find an amicable solution to this vexed issue.

    The UDP president also informed that the inter-state border dispute with Assam was part of the agenda discussed in the recent meeting of the senior leaders of the party as the follow up action of the party election agenda.

    The UDP said that this issue need to be discussed at the Chief Ministerial level as it has caused immense hardship to the people living along the border and has also led to violent incidents at times.

    The UDP chief further informed that he had requested the Chief Minister to discuss this issue with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah including the issue along the international border with Bangladesh.

    The UDP is concern of the incidents where the local populace of Meghalaya living along the international border have been time and again attacked by Bangladeshi nationals.
