SHILLONG: The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the KHADC has decided to field UDP leader Teinwell Dkhar for the post of chief executive member (CEM), the election of which will be held on November 22.

The election is necessitated following the collapsed of the UDA-led executive committee to the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition Congress during the winter session of the Council on Wednesday.

The UDA comprising of United Democratic Party (UDP), National People’s Party (NPP) and Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), is left with 14 members after three NPP MDCs, one PDF and one Independent member decided to support the Congress.

Sources informed that the UDA has decided to repose its faith on the leadership of Dkhar.

Dkhar will file his nomination papers on Thursday.
