Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday admitted that there are missing bridges under areas covered by the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and assured to take necessary action.

Replying to a query raised by the Leader of Opposition, Mukul Sangma in the Assembly, Tynsong said, “Yes, the issue raised is very genuine. There are quite a number of cases where missing links happened under the coverage of the PMGSY be it in phase-I or phase-II.”

Stating that the state is going to soon step into the PMGSY phase-III, the deputy chief minister said that he has already asked the officers concerned to look into the issue.

Sangma had earlier sought to know the measures taken by the state government to include the missing bridges in the other phases of the PMGSY in order to realize optimal benefit of the scheme, while referring to the missing bridges in the southern bank of Simsang and Samanda block.

When Ampati legislator, Miani D Shira questioned as to why no projects were sanctioned for West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills, Tynsong said such districts did not qualify to get sanction under the PMGSY-II.

He also informed that the ministry concerned had approved and sanctioned for all the 22 projects submitted by the state government.

Earlier to another principal question, the deputy chief minister informed that Rs 10.54 crore was sanctioned for projects taken up under PMGSY phase-II within Samanda block in East Garo Hills district.

Replying to a query raised by Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma in the Assembly, Tynsong said projects within the block is MRL01-Samanda Dakolgre to Asil Songgital (Rongriho Watregre) (L-12.50 km).

He however said the physical progress of the project till date is zero percent as the work has not yet commenced due to the fact that the notice to proceed with the work is under process.
