Two-week long DAJGUA awareness campaign concludes in East Jaintia Hills

The two-week long Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) IEC Awareness Campaign, which began on June 18 across East Jaintia Hills, concluded on June 30 with events held at Khliehriat West and Muallian villages under Wapung and Saipung Blocks, respectively.
The campaign covered various locations across Wapung, Saipung, and Lumshnong C&RD Blocks, with active participation from officials of Block Development Offices and key line departments, including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Social Welfare, Tourism, Health, and Skill Development.
Residents were sensitised on numerous government schemes such as PMAY, IGNOAPS, PM-KISAN, PMMSY, KCC, MHIS, PM-JAY, and various livestock and fisheries development programmes. Officials not only disseminated information but also guided beneficiaries on how to access these schemes, in line with the initiative’s goal of “benefit saturation” — ensuring no eligible tribal household is left out.
The campaign benefitted hundreds of villagers by creating awareness of welfare schemes that many were previously unaware of. It helped bridge the information gap, empowered residents to apply for entitlements, and enabled on-the-spot clarification of doubts. Many households were able to begin the application process for housing, pension, health insurance, livelihood support, and skill training, bringing them closer to securing vital social and economic benefits.

Informational materials were also displayed, highlighting flagship programmes like the Jal Jeevan Mission, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, National Health Mission, and Skill India Mission.
The campaign was part of the nationwide celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, observed as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, and aimed to promote inclusive development by addressing critical gaps in healthcare, education, livelihoods, and infrastructure in tribal regions.
