    The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, has convicted two persons in separate cases of sexual offences against minors under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

    Sawen Tangliang was sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 30,000. The case was registered at Khliehriat Women Police Station as Case No. 30(07)2023 under Sections 5(l)(m)(n)/6 of the POCSO Act, and the chargesheet was filed vide CS No. 21/2023 dated October 3, 2023.

    Ganesh alias Sangi Rai alias Popo was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 20,000 fine in a separate case registered at Khliehriat Women Police Station as Case No. 37(08)2023 under Sections 5(m)/6 of the POCSO Act. The chargesheet was filed vide CS No. 26/2023 dated November 13, 2023.

    Both cases were investigated by WPSI L. Siangshai of Khliehriat Women Police Station, whose meticulous work led to the successful convictions.
