    Due to swift action by the East Jaintia Hills Police, two minor girls were rescued safely from two different places.

    According to police, on the 19th and 22nd of September, last information was received at Khliehriat Women Police Station that 2(two) minor girls aged 13 and 14 years old hailing from Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District were missing since the 17th of September, last.

    Accordingly, two cases were registered vide Khliehriat Women PS Case No. 39(09)2021 and No. 40(09)2021 u/s 363 IPC and investigated into.

    During the course of investigation, it transpired that the two minor girls have been taken somewhere in Kalain, Assam.

    The police immediately swung into action and engaged reliable sources to trace the location of the two minor girls and on 24th of September, last a police team from East Jaintia Hills led by WP/Sub-Inspector D. Shabong and Sub-Inspector B. Marbaniang along with the assistance of Assam Police managed to track and rescue the two minor girls from two separate locations in Kalain, Assam.

    The accused person namely Saydul Islam of Case No. 39(09)2021 and Raju @ Majuib of Case No. 40(09)2021 managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness and police are on the look-out for them.

    The two minor girls have been safely brought back to Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills and will be handed over to the CWC after completion of all formalities.
