Two Meghalaya filmmakers selected for Busan International Film Festival

Fraternity Art Cine Entertainment Shillong has expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for facilitating the participation of North-Eastern filmmakers at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) 2024, scheduled from October 2 to 11 in Busan, South Korea.

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Meghalaya, has nominated two filmmakers from the state: Simi Khongtiang from Jaintia Hills, an emerging talent in regional cinema, and Elvachisa Sangma from Tura, an award-winning filmmaker recognized at events like the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF).

As part of the initiative, two filmmakers from each North-Eastern state were selected, with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) covering their expenses.

Fraternity Art praised the initiative, calling it a significant step toward promoting North-East cinema on a global stage.
