Two convicted of raping 12-year-old girl six years ago in East Khasi Hills

Two persons have been sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment by the Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills for raping a 12 years old girl six years ago.

The accused have been identified as Mortonjune Kharbani (45-50) and Lumding Syiemlieh.

A fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed by the Court in its judgment passed on October 27.

The FIR against Kharbani was filed on December 3, 2018. The victim, a class VII student was raped multiple times in the year 2017 in her house while she was alone at  home.

In the course of investigation it was revealed that the survivor victim had also been sexually assaulted by another co-accused Lumding Syiemlieh.
