Tura MP praises GHADC employees for keeping Sixth Schedule institution alive

Congress MP from Tura, Saleng A Sangma has praised the employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) for keeping the Sixth Schedule institution alive through their dedication and sacrifice by continuing to work despite not receiving salaries for 43 months.
“I would like to give praise to the employees who are working very hard to keep the institution alive. It is because of them our Sixth Schedule is still alive.
Otherwise if these employees walk out what will happen to the Sixth Schedule institution that was gifted and given during the time of Indira Gandhi,” Sangma told reporters on Monday.
Sangma expressed his concern for the employees’ families, who are suffering due to the prolonged non-payment of salaries.
“As an MP, I could just write letters, I cannot do nothing at all as my hands are tight but my moral support and my prayers are always with them,” he said.
“I have already spoken to few ministers regarding this. I have talked to the tribal minister also regarding the situation in Garo Hills right now and GHADC,” the MP said while warning that it is a dangerous trend if the GHADC is failing to pay salary to its employees for consecutively 43 months.
