    A truck driver was murdered by unknown miscreants last night, opposite a petrol pump in Mukhla Umsuwe, located along National Highway 6 in West Jaintia Hills District.

    Police said they received information from the headman of Mukhla village about a quarrel between unidentified persons at Mukhla Umsuwe. Sub-Inspectors J. Chyne and R. Dkhar, along with their team, rushed to the spot.

    During their investigation at Ladmukhla village, they found that the crime scene was in a jungle area opposite the Pnar service station. On searching in a small jungle and found one dead is inside the shape and the body is in a pool of blood suspected to have been murdered by unknown miscreants, police said.

    The body was taken to Jowai Civil Hospital, Ialong and kept in a morgue room. The victim was identified as a truck driver. A photocopy of a driver’s license found in the truck (BR No. NL01 AC 6175) identified him as Sambun Dkhar from Mynsngat village.

    Police said, the truck owner’s contact information was found on the truck, and he confirmed that Sambun Dkhar was the driver. A WhatsApp profile photo also verified the driver’s identity.

    It may be mentioned that Sambun Dkhar was an accused in the kidnap and murder case of late Pynkhreh Surong from Mynsngat, whose body was found in a forest area near NH 6 in Pommura on March 2022.

    Police said investigation is on to trace the connections to this murder.
