In an effort to enhance public safety and convenience, the office of the Superintendent of Police, WJHs, has introduced a trial traffic arrangement:

One-Way Road: The road extending from DC Point to the Presbyterian Church (Mission Compound) will now operate as a designated one-way route.

No Entry to Iawmusiang: Vehicles which intended to ply towards Iawmusiang from Presbyterian Church Junction (Mission Compound). However, vehicles coming from Iongpiah, Dulong, Lumiongkjam and other areas will be diverted to ply via Chutwakhu Road.

Entry Road Conversion: The internal road from Chutwakhu leading to Meghalaya Studio near Seinraij Parking Lot has been converted into an entry road, functioning as a one-way route.

These changes are being implemented on a trial basis, starting from November 6, 2023.

A meeting and inspection conducted between the Office of the Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills, and local community representatives from the Iawmusiang and the Mission Compound (Pohshnong) areas to address concerns regarding traffic congestion.

Notably, a ‘no-entry’ policy will be enforced for all heavy vehicles from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. All medium and light motor vehicles, including mini trucks, Bolero pickups, and various goods carrier vehicles for loading and unloading, are prohibited from parking in the Iawmusiang and Mission Compound road area between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Loading and unloading activities must be completed before 8:00 AM or after 7:00 PM.

In the event of emergencies requiring vehicles to park in the same area, special permission must be obtained from the Office of the Superintendent of Police, WJHs. Violations of these regulations will result in fines and penalties in accordance with the MV Act 2019.”
