Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh inaugurates futsal ground, announce tourism projects in EJH

A new Futsal Football Ground at San Shnong Secondary School, Mukhaialong, under Wapung C&RD Block, was inaugurated today. The project was funded under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Fund.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh, who attended the event, spoke on the state government’s ongoing efforts across sectors, including the development of sports infrastructure. He noted that such investments have helped the state gain recognition, with Meghalaya set to host the National Games in 2027. He also highlighted initiatives such as support for football clubs and development of sporting facilities.
Lyngdoh announced the sanctioning of funds for multiple tourism-related projects in East Jaintia Hills: Upgradation of Umbyrlein Falls (Rs 5.79 crore), Development of Rynji Falls (Rs 9.64 crore), Moopun Falls (Rs 6.44 crore), and Sahksaw Falls (Rs 8.38 crore).
Khliehriat MLA Kyrmen Shylla acknowledged the efforts of the San Shnong Welfare Association and stressed the importance of community involvement in local development. He also cited the DMF Trust’s role in creating infrastructure in the district, including Futsal Grounds.
Other speakers included Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein, Deputy CEM of JHADC Lasky Rymbai, and Wapung BDO Dr. T Shylla. The programme featured cultural performances by students and SHG members from the area.
